Does hardwood flooring need to be acclimated?

Both solid hardwood flooring, as well as engineered wood flooring, need to be acclimated. Wood swells with humidity, causing cupping, crowning, and worst-case scenario, warping; alternatively, when the humidity goes down, it shrinks, causing gaps....
